Brampton Beast News Release
BRAMPTON, ON - The Brampton Beast announced today the signing of 6'0", 190-pound rookie goaltender Parker Van Buskirk. Van Buskirk, a Windsor native, spent his last four years playing CIS hockey with the University of Windsor, winning an OUA Bronze medal with the team this year.
The standout netminder also earned accolades as an OUA West Division first-team All Star and West Division Goaltender of the Year, turning in an exceptional campaign where he registered a .904 save percentage, 2.84 goals against average and 2 shutouts.
Van Buskirk led all goaltenders in the conference this season with 20 wins, coming in just 24 starts. He leaves his alma mater as the Windsor Lancer's all time leader in wins with 64 (regular season).
Prior to returning to school, Van Buskirk spent parts of two seasons in the ECHL for a total of 23 games, thereby maintaining his rookie eligibility status for this season. The talented netminder also spent four years in the OHL, suiting up for the Sarnia Sting, Saginaw Spirit, Belleville Bulls and Kitchener Rangers.
Fan favorite Jason Dale will also be returning to the Beast lineup tonight after a lengthy stint on the team's injured reserve. Dale has four goals and four assists, including a game-winning goal, in 22 games with the Beast this season.
The Beast have released forward Tyler Stothers and goaltender Dalton McGrath from their professional contracts. Stothers had one goal in five games, while McGrath made six saves in twenty minutes of action in relief of Ryan DeMelo.
Catch Van Buskirk and the rest of the Beast in action on Sunday, March 22 for Team Picture Day, where the first 1000 fans in attendance will receive a free team picture that you can get signed during the free skate after the game! Thursday, March 26 is Business Networking Night at the Powerade Centre where fans have the opportunity to mingle with industry professionals, while Friday, March 27 is Star Wars Episode II, where the Beast will reveal their Lucas Films-approved Star Wars jerseys and fans have the opportunity to buy them during a live auction directly following the game!
