KALAMAZOO - Utilizing a 3-for-5 performance on the power-play the Kalamazoo Wings defeated the Fort Wayne Friday at Wings Stadium on Celebration! Cinema Night.

Generating the majority of the offense through the opening stanza, the Komets struck first. Mike Embach found Eric Faille (18th) alone in front and wrapped the puck around the outstretched glove of Joel Martin.

Taking advantage of a power play opportunity, the K-Wings evened the game at 1-1with a Ludwig Blomstrand marker. The tally was Blomstrand's 27th overall, and eighth on the man-advantage, giving him the team-lead in both categories.

Fueled by their power-play, the K-Wings struck for three goals in the second period. Earning his first goal of the season, Steven Kaunisto (1st) place a wrister over the shoulder of Roman Will to give Kalamazoo a one goal lead 4:21 into the period.

Less than 1:30 later, Blomstrand (28th) struck for his second power-play goal of the night on a five-on-three advantage. Scoring on a slap shot from between the circles, Blomstrand has registered 21 goals in his last 24 games.

On the ensuing 5-on-4 advantage, the K-Wings struck again, this time with a rebound tally from Justin Taylor (11th) to cap off a span of three goals in 2:03.

Not going down without a fight, the Komets cut their deficit to two with a power play marker from Brett Perlini for his 17th of the season. Following a battle in front of the net, Perlini found the loose puck for the tally.

Bringing Fort Wayne to within one, Shaun Szydlowski dropped a pass to the tape of Drew Daniels (5th), who rifled one top shelf.

Kalamazoo will begin a four-game road trip tomorrow, Saturday, March 21st with a 7:15 p.m. encounter against the Toledo Walleye.

The K-Wings will return home on Friday, April 3rd with a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Walleye on Karnival Night presented by the Airzoo. April 3rd will also be a 3, 2, 1 Countdown to Fun!, featuring $3 beer, $2 Pepsi products and $1 hot dogs featuring Winter Sausage hot dogs and Harding's Friendly Markets buns.
