Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers announced their third signing of the week on Friday with the addition of rookie forward Phil Brewer.

Brewer, 24, played the last three seasons at Bemidji State University where he recorded 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) in 106 career games with the Beavers. The Cambridge, Ontario native notched three-game winning goals during his senior season of 2014-15 and served as Bemidji's team captain. From 2012-2014, Brewer played at Bemidji State alongside current Tulsa forward Jeff Jubinville, who ranks third in the ECHL in rookie scoring with 52 points (26 goals, 26 assists).

"Obviously Phil showcased strong leadership qualities in college to be named a team captain and I'm excited to see what he can bring to our team," said Bruce Ramsay, Oilers Head Coach. "Jeff (Jubinville) had nothing but good things to say about his skill set and his work ethic so we feel fortunate to have him here in Tulsa."

Prior to his collegiate career, Brewer played four seasons of junior hockey for the Burlington Cougars of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Brewer finished the 2010-11 season as the OJHL leader in points (109) and assists (70) in 48 games played. He led the Cougars to a Western Division title and added 15 points during Burlington's run to the quarterfinals.

Brewer joins defenseman Steven Hoshaw from American International College and forward Justin Mansfield out of Merrimack College as the most recent additions to the Oilers' roster. Tulsa has won five games in a row and ten of its last 12 to move into third place in the Central Division playoff chase.

The Oilers return to action on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. against the rival Wichita Thunder. Fans can watch the game and listen to the game at the Oilers' official Bud Light Watch Party at Fox and Hound (71st and Garnett).
