Toledo Walleye News Release
Toledo, OH - Forward Dane Walters has signed a professional contract with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.
"We are very excited for Dane, he truly earned this contract," said Head Coach Derek Lalonde. "It is also a credit to our organization and what we are trying to do here, in that Rockford would go outside of their organization and affiliate to sign Dane."
Walters started this season with the Walleye with 17 points (9G, 8A) in 27 games played while serving as an assist captain. Since joining the IceHogs on a player tryout in early February, the 26-year-old has picked up a goal and three assists in 10 contests. He is also a plus three. The second year professional native of St. Paul, Minnesota appeared in 50 games with Elmira last year with 23 points (19G, 13A).
Walters is one of five Walleye players this year to join teams in the AHL during this season: Jared Nightingale (Hartford, Norfolk, Milwaukee, and Grand Rapids), AJ Jenks (Charlotte), Joel Chouinard (Iowa) and Jeff Lerg (Grand Rapids and Lake Erie).
