
Bears Unveil 2003-04 AHL Opponents

HERSHEY â The HERSHEY Bears announced today in conjunction with the American Hockey League the schedule grid for the 2003-04 season. The grid provides all teams in the AHL their opponents for the upcoming campaign.
The Bears will play the bulk of the 2003-04 season within the newly aligned East Division in the AHL's Eastern Conference. HERSHEY will play a twelve game series again this season with the Philadelphia Phantoms, with six games at GIANT Center and six games at the First Union Spectrum. The Bears will also play ten games against division rival Norfolk, and ten games against the club's I-81 rival, the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins. New division rivals Albany and Bridgeport will each see the Chocolate and White eight times during the regular season, while the Bears do battle with the Binghamton Senators a total of four times.
Other schedule highlights include the return of the St. John's Maple Leafs to central Pennsylvania. The Leafs will make two appearances at GIANT Center in 2003-04, while the Bears will travel to Newfoundland for the first time since March 9-10, 2001. HERSHEY will face all teams in the Atlantic Division this season, with games against Hartford, Lowell, Manchester, Portland, Providence, Springfield, and Worcester. The Bears will not play against any teams in the newly created West Division of the Western Conference in 2003-04.
The Bears open up the home portion of the 2003-04 season on Saturday, October 18th at GIANT Center. Season ticket information is available by calling 520-5796. Several different season ticket plans are available for the club's second season at the 10,500 seat GIANT Center. GIANT Center will host the Philadelphia Flyers in an exhibition game with the New York Islanders on Thursday, October 2nd. Tickets for the game will go on sale Monday, August 4th at the GIANT Center box office, and at Ticketmaster.com.
