Manitoba Moose News Release
Today the Manitoba Moose Yearling Foundation is proud to donate over $122,000 to 17 local children's charities. This year the Yearling Foundation raised money through events like the Tip-A-Moose Dinner, the Manitoba Moose Sports Carnival, the Manitoba Moose/Special Olympics Dinner, the Ranger Insurance Charity Golf Classic, and from 50-50 draws at all Moose home games.
The Manitoba Moose Yearling Foundation was established in October 1996 as the official charity of the hockey club. The Foundation is a non-profit organization which raises money year-round, and in turn, donates this money to children's charities and organizations in the province of Manitoba. To date, the Yearling Foundation has disbursed over $1 million since its inception.
"It is with great pleasure that the Yearling Foundation gives back to the community," stated Executive Director Michelle Hoas. "It is important for the organization to be involved and we thank everyone who has supported the Foundation through our events over the past year."
Manitobans also received over $20,000 in tickets donated through the Yearling Foundation to various charities and organizations during the 2002-03 season.
The Yearling Foundation would specifically like to thank RANGER INSURANCE, whose golf tournament in June netted in excess of $25,000 towards the 2003-2004 fundraising campaign. Ranger continues to be the title sponsor of the Yearling Foundation at all of its events.
The Yearling Foundation operates under the direction of its Executive Director and Assistant Director Jeff Mager in partnership with a Board of Directors headed by Chairperson George Sigurdson, Vice-Chairperson Debbie Kocen and board members Lia Arniel, Patti Johannesson, Kevin Neiles, Blake Fitzpatrick, and Mark Strople.
