Goaltenders took center stage at Norfolk Scope Friday night, as the BEARS fell 2-1 in a shootout in Hampton Roads.

The two teams battled to a scoreless tie after twenty minutes, with Norfolk firing 11 shots at BEARS goaltender Kirk Daubenspeck while HERSHEY took nine shots against Admirals backstop Corey Crawford. Neither team could score in the second period as well, although HERSHEY had a five on three power play following a fight between BEARS newcomer Deryk Engelland and Norfolk's Brian Lee. Admirals head coach Mike Haviland was ejected from the game, but HERSHEY could not convert the man advantage.

Each team traded goals in the third period, with Boyd Kane scoring at 1:55 for HERSHEY and Jason Morgan at 4:31 for Norfolk. The teams then went to overtime and the shootout, with Norfolk winning in five rounds.

HERSHEY will close out 2005 Saturday night with a 5:00 p.m. home game against Philadelphia. Tickets are available at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 508-BEAR.
