Falcons Host Monarchs on December 30

GAME SETUP: The Springfield Falcons and Manchester Monarchs will meet for the sixth time and fourth time at the MassMutual Center on Friday night. The Falcons and Monarchs have had a very competitive season series thus far with three of the five games going into overtime and four of the five contest decided by one goal. The last time these two teams played was on December 10 with Springfield's Ryan Craig netting the game-winner with 1:06 remaining in regulation time giving the Falcons a 5-4 victory. The Falcons have won the last two games against the Monarchs including a 1-0 overtime win on December 3 in Manchester.

The Falcons head into tonight's game looking to snap their five-game losing streak after being shutout by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Wednesday night, 4-0. Springfield enters tonight's contest with a record of 14-14-1-3 good for 32 points. Springfield will play their third game in four days tonight, followed by a trip to Portland on Saturday to conclude the 2005 calendar year.

Manchester heads into tonight's game also looking to get back on the winning track having lost to the Portland Pirates, 5-2, on Wednesday evening. The Monarchs head into tonight's contest with a record of 19-8-1-3 good for 42 points and second place in the Atlantic Division. Manchester will head home following tonight's contest to play host to the Albany River Rats on Saturday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

REID BACK WITH THE FALCONS: The Springfield Falcons announced on Wednesday that right wing Darren Reid has been reassigned to Springfield by their National Hockey League affiliate, the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Reid was recalled by the Lightning on December 16 and made his NHL debut on December 17 against the Detroit Red Wings recording five of Tampa Bay's 15 hits in that contest. In four games with Tampa Bay this season, Reid didn't register a point while averaging 6:32 of ice time.

Reid is in his second season of professional hockey and has collected four goals and six assists for 10 points in 21 games with the Falcons this season. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound native of Lac La Biche, Alberta spent his rookie season with Springfield last year collecting three goals and 19 assists for 22 points and 99 penalty minutes in 56 games.

ADAMS SIGNS PTO CONTRACT: The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced Thursday that they have signed defenseman John Adams to a Professional Tryout Agreement.

Adams is in first season of professional hockey after spending the previous four seasons with the Boston College Eagles. The 6-foot-2, 198-pound native of Wayzata, Minnesota has collected one goal and nine assists for 10 points and 35 penalty minutes in 22 games with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL this season. Adams ranked fourth on the Everblades in plus/minus with a rating of +9. Adams was originally the Buffalo Sabres third round draft pick (82nd overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Adams was a teammate of Falcons forward David Spina during his collegiate career and collected 29 points in 136 career games with the Eagles.

ANOTHER START IN GOAL: Manchester goaltender Adam Hauser has started the last eight consecutive games for the Monarchs and overall on the season, leads all Manchester goaltenders in games played with 23. Hauser is currently third in the league in wins with a record of 14-7-2 on the season with a 2.71 goals against average and .914 save percentage. In his last five starts, Hauser has a 1.97 goals against average with a record of 3-2-0.
