Louisville Bats News Release

LOUISVILLE, KY - Reds rehabbers Kevin Newman, Joey Votto and Jonathan India combined for five of the team's eight hits while recording five RBI, but it wasn't enough as the Louisville Bats (68-66) fell to the St. Paul Saints (79-56) four the fourth straight game by score of 7-6 on Friday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

The Saints got on the board early, scoring two runs in the opening frame to take 2-0 lead.

The Bats responded in the following half inning thanks to a two-run double from Reds Rehabber Joey Votto to tie the game at 2-2.

St. Paul combined to score five runs over the second and third innings to retake the lead, going up 7-2.

Louisville answered again in the fourth, rallying with two outs. Consecutive walks by Alejo Lopez and Chuckie Robinson got the effort started before a Jacob Hurtubise double brought a run home. Jonathan India kept the rally going with his first hit of his rehab stint, a two-run double, followed by a Kevin Newman single that brought India home to score four runs and cut the deficit down to just one run, trailing 7-6.

Hurtubise's double in the fourth extended his on-base streak to 16 consecutive games, his longest streak of the season with Louisville.

The Bats bullpen was stellar as Ryan Nutof (1.2ip), Casey Legumina (2.1ip), Tony Santillan (1.0ip) and Alan Busenitz (1.0ip) combined to throw 6.0 scoreless innings, giving up just three hits while issuing seven walks and striking out four.

Down by one in the bottom of the ninth, Jose Barrero drew a two-out walk and stole second base to put the tying run in scoring position, but the Bats were unable to bring the run home, falling to the Saints 7-6.
