Louisville Bats News Release

OMAHA, NE - The Omaha Storm Chasers defeated the Louisville Bats 3-2 on a walk-off fielder's choice in the 10th inning on Saturday night at Werner Park. Allen Cordoba homered and Lorenzo Cedrola drove in a run for Louisville in the loss.

After the Bats failed to score in the top of the 10th inning, Hicklen laid down a sacrifice bunt for Omaha, advancing the placed runner Dairon Blanco to third base. With the infield drawn in, Freddy Fermin hit a ground ball to shortstop that was fielded by Miguel Hernandez, but his throw home was late and Blanco scored the winning run.

The Storm Chasers jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning against Bats' starter Ben Lively. After a Clay Dungan leadoff double, Nick Pratto singled him home to give Omaha the advantage. Four batters later, Brewer Hicklen drove Pratto in with an RBI single of his own. Lively settled down after that, not allowing another run over his four innings of work.

Louisville got on the board in the top of the third inning on a two-out RBI infield single from Cedrola that scored Angelo Castellano. Cedrola added a double later in the game, making this his sixth multi-hit game of the season and second in as many nights.

In the next frame, Allen Cordoba tied the game with a line drive solo home run over the left field fence. It was Cordoba's first long ball of the season and as a member of the Reds' organization.

Both bullpens dominated the rest of the way, carrying the game into extra innings. Zack Godley, Michael Byrne, Pedro Payano, Joel Kuhnel and Phillip Diehl combined to toss five innings of scoreless relief for Louisville, yielding just two hits and striking out six.

Despite dropping the last two ball games, Louisville pitchers have allowed just seven hits over the last 17.1 innings.

The Bats and Storm Chasers will play the final game of their series Sunday afternoon in Omaha with first pitch scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET. Connor Overton will start for the Bats. Omaha's starter is still to be determined.
