Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors today announced they have agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with Director of Player Personnel Bob Bartlett. The Condors also announced that Bartlett will additionally be given the title of Director of Hockey Operations at the conclusion of the 2005-06 season.

"I'm really excited to have the opportunity to return to the Condors," said Bartlett. "I think we've certainly made some good steps in developing our organization and our goal is to continue to develop and bring a championship to Bakersfield."

Bartlett has over four decades of experience at the professional, semi-pro, college and junior hockey ranks, and has been a part of seven championship teams. He has previously worked as the scouting director for the Fresno Falcons, including their Taylor Cup Championship season in 2001-02. He also worked with the Las Vegas Wranglers during their strong ECHL debut in 2003-04. Bartlett was a scout for two seasons before that with the Phoenix Mustangs, including 1999-2000 when he worked closely with then-Mustangs Head Coach Marty Raymond on assembling a Taylor Cup Championship in the West Coast Hockey League.

At the junior hockey level, Bartlett served as general manager for the Western Hockey League's Lethbridge Hurricanes from 1990-1995 and as a coach for one of those seasons. He helped lead the Hurricanes into the playoffs in four of those five years, including an East Division Championship.

In 1964, Bartlett was a key member of the NCAA Championship team at the University of North Dakota. In the championship game, he chipped in a pair of assists against Denver University. He played three seasons with the Fighting Sioux, was selected the team's Most Valuable Player during their championship season and was voted into the UND Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. In the years between his college days and his time with Phoenix, Bartlett was involved at every level of the game. Various roles included serving as a player/coach in the semi- pro ranks to coaching AAA Midgets, involvement in ownership at the junior level and serving in the Canadian Winter Olympic development program.

"Good traders ride their winners and cut their losses," said Condors owner Jonathan Fleisig. "Bob Bartlett is a winner. It was an easy decision to try to keep him."

"Bob has been a big part of us improving our hockey operations over the last few years," said President Matthew Riley. "We've committed to each other to continue to strive for greatness on the ice, and included in that is doing everything in our power to land an affiliation."

The Condors hit the road for three consecutive games against Pacific Division opponents next week. Bakersfield visits the Stockton Thunder on Wednesday, February 22nd, then travels to Fresno to take on the Falcons on Friday the 24th before returning to Stockton on the 25th.
