Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (37-24-4-6, 84 points) defeated the Houston Aeros (41-26-1-5, 88 points) 3-0 in front of 6,863 fans at Cedar Park Center Tuesday night. Texas goalie Richard Bachman (24-16-5) stopped all 20 shots faced for his sixth shutout of the year. Center Aaron Gagnon set up all three Texas goals in the win. Forwards Greg Rallo, Francis Wathier and Travis Morin each tallied a special team's goal on the night, as the Stars improved to 19-10-3-3 at home. Houston goalie Matt Hackett (19-14-4) stopped 33 of 36 shots for the loss. The sellout crowd marked the fourth time this season the Stars have reached capacity at Cedar Park Center. The Stars host the Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday at 7:30 PM.
Texas started the scoring late in the first period with 3:21 remaining as right wing Greg Rallo fired the puck past Hackett on the power play. Rallo's 25th goal of the season was set up by defenseman Dan Spang and center Aaron Gagnon to give Texas a 1-0 lead. It marked the fourth straight period in which Rallo tallied a goal dating back to Sunday's game at Manitoba.
The Stars continued the scoring in the second period as left wing Francis Wathier netted a short-handed goal with only 1:02 remaining. Gagnon provided the assist on Wathier's 17th goal of the year and a 2-0 lead.
Texas center Travis Morin notched a power-play goal at 8:40 in the third period, marking his 18th goal of the year. Right wing Raymond Sawada and Gagnon each supplied an assist for the 3-0 final.
