
Canadiens Sign Defenceman Joe Stejskal to a Two-Year Contract

MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens announced today that the club has signed defenceman Joe Stejskal to a two-year contract (2011-2012 to 2012-2013). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Stejskal will report to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Stejskal, 22, played in 33 games with the NCAA's Dartmouth Big Green this season registering five points (three goals, two assists) along with 37 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 211-pound defenceman was in his fourth season with Dartmouth College this past year after posting 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists) and 125 penalty minutes in 93 games in his previous three seasons with the Big Green from 2007-2010. Prior to joining Dartmouth, the native of Grand Rapids, Minnesota played with the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks (high school) from 2004-2005 to 2006-2007, leading the team to consecutive state playoffs in 2006 and 2007. Stejskal led the Thunderhawks' defencemen in scoring with 34 points (14 goals, 20 assists) during the 2006-2007 season, a year which he also served as team captain and was presented with the Herb Brooks Award which is given to the most qualified player in the state tournament who strongly represents the values, characteristics and traits that defined Herb Brooks. Stejskal was selected in the 5th round, 133rd overall by the Canadiens in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday, March 25th when they travel to Rockford to battle the IceHogs for an 8:05 p.m. game. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
