Senators Recall Defenceman Patrick Wiercioch from Binghamton

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 22, 2011) - The Ottawa Senators today recalled defenceman Patrick Wiercioch from the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators . This will be the first National Hockey League recall for the native of Burnaby, B.C., who was Ottawa's second-round pick (42nd overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Wiercioch, 20, is fourth among defencemen on the B-Sens in scoring with four goals and 12 assists. He has also recorded 21 penalty minutes in 63 games with the Binghamton this season.

Prior to joining Binghamton for his first pro season, Wiercioch played two seasons with the University of Denver, where he scored 18 goals and added 44 assists in 75 career games.
