Broome Sports Foundation Scholarship Presentation Set for Saturday

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators announced today that the Broome Sports Foundation will present the 2011 Tommy Mitchell Memorial Scholarships in a special first intermission ceremony on Saturday, March 26 as the B-Sens host the Providence Bruins.

Eleven local high school and college students have been chosen as 2011 recipients; Jeremy Anderson (Union-Endicott High School), Thomas Craig (junior, Syracuse University), Joe Davie (Seton Catholic), Josh Jacyna (freshman, University of Buffalo), Chris Laubish (Vestal High School), Evan Lippolis (freshman, Broome Community College), Kevin Mahoney (sophomore, University of Buffalo), Mark Reel (fourth year, Drexel University), Billy Reese (Vestal High School), Phung Tran (junior, Le Moyne), and Frank Vieira (junior, Robert Morris University)

Including the scholarships presented to the 2011 recipients, the Broome Sports Foundation has now awarded over $100,000 to local student athletes to help further their education. Since the inception of the Tommy Mitchell Memorial Scholarship fund in 1992, 82 local student athletes have been awarded scholarships.

Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $17.75 for side seating, $16.75 for end seating.
