
Strachan Recalled by Blues

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has recalled defenseman Tyson Strachan from the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen, on emergency basis. In an unrelated move, the Rivermen have released forward Blair Riley from his professional tryout with the club.
Riley, 25, has appeared in eight games with the Rivermen this season on two different PTO's. He has recorded two assists and seven penalty minutes with Peoria. He will return to the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL) where he has 35 points (17g, 18a) in 50 games. He has also seen action in four games this year with the San Antonio Rampage between Dec. 29 and Jan. 2. He scored in his first game with the Rampage.
Strachan, 26, has appeared in 28 games for the Blues this season recording an assist and serving 34 penalty minutes. The 6'2, 215-pound defenseman has also dressed in four games for the Rivermen posting one assist. The Melfort, Saskatchewan native was signed by the Blues as a free agent on October 9, 2008.
The Rivermen welcome the San Antonio Rampage to Carver Arena Friday at 7:05 p.m. for the first game of a two-game set. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive an Ameren Illinois reusable tote bag. Tickets are available through www.rivermen.net or by calling 309-676-1040.
