Aulin Garners All-Star Invitation
January 3, 2003 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manchester Monarchs News Release
Manchester, NH - Manchester Monarchs (AHL) rookie centerman Jared Aulin was selected today to represent his club at the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic, scheduled for February 3, 2003 at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, ME. Aulin will skate for the Canadian all-star squad.
Aulin, 20, was recalled by the Los Angeles Kings (NHL) on December 28 and has appeared in four games with the big club this season. Aulin earned his promotion by leading the Monarchs in December scoring with two goals, 13 assists and 15 points in 10 games. The 6-foot-0, 192-pound pivotman had a team-record five assists vs. the Saint John Flames on December 21, and three assists vs. the Lowell Lock Monsters on December 8. In 30 overall games with the Monarchs, Aulin, a native of Calgary, Alberta, has seven goals, 21 assists and 28 points.
His 21 assists rank fourth among rookies in the AHL and his 28 points rank fifth.
Aulin's nomination means the Monarchs will have three players at the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic. Manchester defensemen Joe Corvo and Tomas Zizka yesterday were named to the PlanetUSA all-star squad, which consists of American and European born players. The Monarchs also had three players represent the team at the 2002 All-Star Classic (Eric Healey, Rich Brennan and Travis Scott).
AHL fans determined the starting lineups for both the Canadian and PlanetUSA squads via on-line balloting at theahl.com, while a committee of AHL coaches selected the remainder of the rosters. The 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic gets underway on Sunday, February 2, with the 2003 Pepsi AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 8:00 p.m. ET. The annual All-Star Game follows at 7:00 p.m. ET on Monday, February 3, and will be televised live in the United States and Canada.
