
Trudel, Roche Named to AHL All-Star Roster

HOUSTON - The American Hockey League announced today that Houston Aeros left wing Jean-Guy Trudel and defenseman Travis Roche have been named to the Canadian AHL All-Star Team. The AHL All-Star Game will be on Monday, February 3, 2003 in Portland, Maine. The two teams are the Canadian All-Stars versus PlanetUSA All-Stars. Player eligibility for the teams is based on birthplace.
Trudel, 27, leads the Houston Aeros in goals (15), points (35), game-winning goals (five) and is tied for second in power play goals (4). He currently ranks seventh in the league in scoring. He has posted two four-point nights this season and had a five-game point streak last week (3-6-9). Trudel was named the AHL's Sher-Wood Player of the Week for October 14 - 20 when he collected three goals and five assists for eight points in three games. The Sudbury, Ontario-native will be playing in his third consecutive AHL All-Star Game.
Roche, 24, is a second-year pro who leads the Aeros defensemen in assists (14) and ranks second in points (21). He played three games for the Canadian National Team in the Deutschland Cup November 8 - 11 and he collected one assist. Last season, Roche led Aeros defenseman in goals with 13 and finished second in points with 34. The Grand Cache, Alberta-native will be making his All-Star debut.
The 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic gets underway on Sunday, February 2, with the 2003 Pepsi AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 8:00 p.m. ET. The annual All-Star Game follows at 7:00 p.m. ET on Monday, February 3, and will be televised live in the United States and Canada.
