McCarthy Named to Canadian All-Star Team

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The American Hockey League (AHL) announced today that defenseman Steve McCarthy has been selected as a member of the Canadian All-Star Team for the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic.

The 20-year old blueliner, who was born in Trail, BC, has appeared in 19 games for the Admirals this season, posting seven points (one goal, six assists), 14 PIM and a plus-4 rating. McCarthy is currently on recall with the Chicago Blackhawks, Norfolk's parent club. In 15 games with Chicago thus far, he scored one goal (one point), and registered two PIM and an even rating.

The 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic, which will take place at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, ME, begins with the 2003 Pepsi AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, February 2 at 8:00 p.m. EST. The 2003 AHL All-Star Game will be held the following night at 7:00 p.m. EST and will be televised live in the United States and Canada.
