
AHL's Penguins 'Chasing the Dream'

SPRINGFIELD, MA ... The American Hockey League's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, top affiliate of the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins, will be starring in "Chasing the Dream," an NHL Productions program which will chronicle their season and a provide a unique look into the lives of professional hockey players.
With an all-access pass for cameras and microphones on the ice, inside the locker room, on the team bus and even in their homes, "Chasing the Dream" follows the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins as they pursue their goal of reaching the NHL.
The program, which consists of 18 half-hour episodes, debuts on the NHL Network in Canada on Monday, January 6. The show will also air on Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh (beginning Jan. 12) and Adelphia Cable in the Wilkes-Barre area.
This year's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, led by head coach Glenn Patrick, feature several top NHL prospects, including former first-round draft picks Colby Armstrong, Brooks Orpik, Kris Beech, Milan Kraft and Konstantin Koltsov. Seven members of the team have already seen time in Pittsburgh during the 2002-03 season.
Now in its 67th season, the AHL serves as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 75 percent of all players to compete in the NHL are AHL graduates, and the American Hockey League has been home to more than 100 honored members of the Hockey Hall of Fame.
