Botterill Named to Canadian All-Star Roster

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans left wing Jason Botterill was named today to the Canadian All-Star roster for the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic.

He currently leads the AHL and the Amerks with 23 goals and is tied for seventh in the league with 35 points (23+12) in 37 games. The 23 goals broke his career high of 21, set during the 2001-02 season with Saint John. The Edmonton, Alberta, native also leads the team with eight power-play goals in 32 games. He has also played in one game with the Buffalo Sabres this season. Botterill was named the Sher-Wood AHL Player of the Week after recording six points for the period ending December 22nd. He registered five goals and one assist in two games against Cincinnati and one at Hershey. He scored game-winning goals in consecutive games on 12/21 and 12/22. With points in the past three games, he now has a five-game point streak (6+4) from 12/13 to 12/22.

The 26-year-old left winger signed with the Sabres on August 12th. Botterill was drafted in the first round (20th overall) of the 1994 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars.

The 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic will take place at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine, from February 2-3. The event begins on Sunday, February 2, with the 2003 Pepsi AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 8:00 p.m. The annual All-Star Game follows at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 3, and will be televised live in the United States and Canada.
