ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired center Joel Perrault and a third-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft from Vancouver in exchange for centers Maxim Lapierre and MacGregor Sharp.
Perrault, 27 (4/6/83), has played for Phoenix (2005-10), St. Louis (2006-07) and Vancouver (2010-11). In 96 career NHL games, Perrault has earned 12-1426 points with 68 PIM. His best season came with Phoenix in 2007-08 when he set career highs in goals, assists and points with 7-1017 points in 49 games.
Originally selected by Anaheim in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Perrault appeared in seven games with Vancouver this season, going scoreless. He collected a season-high 1-23 points on Dec. 17 vs. Houston and posted a season-best four-game scoring streak from Dec. 28-Jan. 3 (0-44).
Lapierre, 25 (3/29/85), appeared in 21 games for the Ducks this season, recording 0-33 points with nine PIM. Acquired from Montreal in exchange for Brett Festerling and a fifth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft on Dec. 31, 2010, Lapierre scored in 5-611 points with 72 PIM in 59 games overall with the Ducks and Canadiens in 2010-11. Selected by Montreal in the second round (61st overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Lapierre has appeared in 314 career NHL contests, scoring 40-4383 points with 293 PIM.
Sharp, 25 (10/1/85), scored 6-713 points with 26 PIM in 50 games this season with the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim's primary development affiliate in the AHL.
