
B's Acquire Laliberte and Chaput from Ducks

BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has acquired forwards David Lailberte and Stefan Chaput from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Brian McGrattan and defenseman Sean Zimmerman. Laliberte and Chaput will both report to the Providence Bruins (AHL).
Laliberte, a 6'1", 198-lb native of St. Liboire, Quebec, has 8-1018 totals and 52 PIM in 49 games with the Syracuse Crunch and Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL. In 11 career NHL games with the Philadelphia Flyers, he has 2-13 totals and 6 PIM. The 24-year-old was traded from the Flyers to the Ducks on November 21, 2010 with Pat Maroon in exchange for Danny Syvret and Rob Bordson. Laliberte was originally drafted by Philadelphia in the fourth round (124th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
The 22-year-old Chaput has 3-710 totals and 15 PIM in 47 games with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch and Charlotte Checkers. The 6'0", 192-lb native of Montreal, Quebec, has yet to appear in an NHL game. He was traded to Anaheim by the Carolina Hurricanes on November 23, 2010 with Matt Kennedy in exchange for Ryan Carter. He was originally drafted by Carolina in the fifth round (153rd overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
McGrattan, 29, has 4-15 totals and 97 PIM in 39 games with Providence (AHL) this season. In 182 career NHL games with the Ottawa Senators, Phoenix Coyotes and Calgary Flames, he has 3-1114 totals and 395 PIM. The 6'4", 235-lb native of Hamilton, Ontario was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the fourth round (104th overall) of the 1999 NHL Draft.
The 6'3", 205-lb Zimmerman has 0-44 totals and 23 PIM in 30 games with Providence and Rochester (AHL) this season. The 23-year-old native of Denver, Colorado has yet to appear in an NHL game. He was traded to Boston by the Florida Panthers in exchange for Jeff LoVecchio, Jordan Knackstedt and a conditional 7th round draft pick on December 9, 2010. He was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the sixth round (170th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
