The Americans are taking on the Kelowna Rocketst today in a Monday matinee game for Family Day.
This is the third and final time the two teams will meet this season. Tri-City has lost both prior meetings but picked up an overtime point in their most recent game on 2/12.
Pavel Novak leads head-to-head scoring with three goals and three assists. For the Americans, Parker Bell has the most points against the Rockets with three assists. Sam Huo is the only Tri-City player with multiple goals in the season series with two. Tri-City has faced goaltender Jari Kykkanen in both prior games against Kelowna and has yet to play former American Talyn Boyko.
The Ams s fought their way back into the win column on Saturday as they defeated the Spokane Chiefs in overtime. It was their first victory to come in overtime this season.
The Americans got on the board first with a goal from Parker Bell 8:51 into the first period. It was the second game in a row that they opened scoring. In the second period, the Ams added a pair of goals from Ian Ferguson and Rhett Melnyk to take a 3-1 lead into the final frame. Andrew Fan recorded his first WHL point with a secondary assist on Ferguson's goal. The Chiefs came back for the third period and tied the score with a pair of goals to send the game to overtime. Spokane took an interference penalty 1:11 into the extra frame to put the Americans on the power play. Connor Bouchard capitalized on the opportunity and scored the game-winning goal to secure the victory for Tri-City.
