Pats Host Broncos in Family Day Contest at Brandt Centre

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats (18-23-1-1) host the Swift Current Broncos (18-25-5-1) for a Family Day contest at 2:00 p.m., inside the Brandt Centre.

The Pats are coming off a 5-4 overtime win on Friday against the Prince Albert Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre. Connor Bedard assisted the tying goal and scored the overtime winner 24 seconds into the extra-frame for his 30th goal of the season, and third overtime winner.

While Bedard finished with two points (1G-1A), Stanislav Svozil also had a multi-point game (2A) as well as Layton Feist (1G-1A) in the win. The Pats got regulation goals from Feist, Borya Valis, Tanner Howe and Cole Carrier. Drew Sim recorded the win, making 22 saves on 26 shots.

The Pats trailed after one and after two periods of play, as they record their first win when down after two frames this season. The final shots were 36-26 Regina, with the Pats going 0-for-3 on the power play and 0-for-2 on the penalty kill, giving up two power play goals.

On the other side, the Swift Current Broncos are coming off a 2-1 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday, and are 3-2-1 over their last six games (17 GF / 19 GA) as they just completed a three game homestand. They are 2-2-0 over their last four road games (12 GF / 25 GA) and are four points ahead of the Pats in the Eastern Conference standings with the ninth seed, but have played five more games.

HEADLINES

Three Pats' players came off the injured list and dressed Friday in Prince Albert, as Adam McNutt, Zane Rowan and Drew Sim are off the IR...Zack Stringer, Jakob Brook and Matthew Kieper remain on the injured list.

Connor Bedard scored his third overtime winner of the season on Friday and is now one shy of the Pats' record for overtime goals in a season, as Frank Kovacs had four OT goals as a 19-year-old in 1990-91...he is one of two WHL players to score three OTG this season.

Connor Bedard became just the third 16-year-old in Regina Pats franchise history to reach the 30+ goal mark, joining Jeff Friesen (45 goals, 1992-93) and Doug Wickenheiser (37 goals, 1977-78).

BY THE NUMBERS

47: Points (11G-36A) this season for Ryker Evans is T-2nd amongst WHL D while also 2nd in PTS/GP at 1.09...he is the only Pat' to have played in all 43 games this season...he must play the remaining 25 games to reach 200 career...he has points in five of his las seven games (5G-5A).

41: Points (20G-21A) over Connor Bedard's last 17 games since Nov. 28, with points in 16 of those 17 contests...he is currently 1st in goals per game (0.811) while 1st in the WHL in shots (207), averaging 5.59 shots per game...he has recorded seven straight multi-point games (10G-8A-18PTS).

25.7: Shooting percentage for rookie winger Tanner Howe this season leads all WHL rookies...has recorded at least a point in four straight games (3G-4A-7PTS) after going his previous five contests with 0G-1A...he is 2nd among rookies in PPG (9), while 5th in PP-PTS (18).

8-3-1: Over the Regina Pats last 12 home games since December 8th, 2021, where they've outscored their opponent 67-to-40 over that time (+27)...the Pats had lost four straight home games prior to this home streak, and were sitting with a 4-8-0 home record prior to December 8th.

63.3: Penalty kill percentage over the Pats last seven games since the start of February (19-for-30, 11 PPGA)...the Pats have given up a power play goal against in six of those seven contests and have allowed at least one power play goal against in 34 of 43 games this season.

The Regina Pats continue their stretch of five games in seven days on Wednesday at the Brandt Centre at 7:00 p.m., against the Medicine Hat Tigers...the Pats then head on their one and only three-in-three of the year, playing in Edmonton on Friday, Red Deer on Saturday and Calgary on Sunday. After playing in Brandon on March 2nd, the Pats return home for a four game homestand where they'll host Red Deer, Lethbridge twice and Calgary.
