Regina Pats News Release

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats Hockey Club hosted an afternoon Family Day match up at the Brandt Centre on Monday, where the Access Communications Children's Fund joined The Brandt Group of Companies at centre ice for a $20,000 cheque presentation to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Regina and Area.

A generous $10,000 donation from the Access Communications Children's Fund, the registered charity of long-time Regina Pats sponsor Access Communications, was matched by Brandt's Thanks A Billion Program as part of their year-long We Care Weekday games.

Access Communications Children's Fund contributes funds and support to youth-based not-for-profit organizations and charities. "Our charity's mandate is simple - every child deserves a chance. We support children at risk or in need in Saskatchewan. This support is made possible through charitable donations from the public, proceeds from our weekly TV Bingo program, as well as fundraising initiatives by Access staff," says Tom Boyko, Board Chair of the Access Communications Children's Fund. "We're thrilled to support the impactful programming Big Brothers Big Sisters offers youth right here in Regina- it's even better when we can double our support by partnering with the Pats and Brandt."

"For over 50 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Regina and Area has been enabling life changing mentoring relationships that ignite the power and potential of young people in our communities so that they are better able to navigate life's adversities," says Dominka Krzeminska, Executive Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Regina and Area. "This funding will directly impact Littles that we are currently serving through our mentoring programs, as well as help us continue to match Bigs with Littles off our waitlist."

This is the Pats and Brandt's fifth We Care Weekday game that brings together Pats sponsors with their choice charity. To date, $180,000 has been raised for local community organizations through the program.

"This was a perfect way to celebrate Family Day with another We Care Weekday game aimed at supporting youth in Regina," says Pats COO, Trevor Buhnai. "The Pats have worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters for many years, and we're thrilled to bring all of these partners together to support their work in a big way."
