Utah Grizzlies News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans (14-8-0-0) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (11-7-2-0) 7-3 Saturday night at Allen Event Center.
The Americans, second place in the Central Division, avenged a two-game series sweep that they took at the hands of Utah last weekend, including a 7-3 loss last Friday, November 27 at Maverik Center.
Utah heads home for five of their next six contests and for 11 of their next 16 games with a two point lead on Rapid City for first place in the West Division after four-straight weekends with Allen and Rapid City.
Allen scored four goals on their first four shots in the first 4:05 of the game before Utah outshot the Americans 44-13 to finish the game as they tried to avenge the tough start. The Grizzlies made it 4-1 on an Eric Knodel power-play goal in the first period and 4-2 on an Alex Krushelnyski goal in the second period before Allen made it 5-2 43 seconds later.
The Americans added another one in the third period and an empty-netter as the Grizzlies went with an extra attacker with just over five minutes left following an Allen goaltender injury.
Matt Berry fed Jon Puskar to finish the scoring at 7-3.
