Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID - The Idaho Steelheads have announced their total donations following Saturday night's Teddy Bear Toss for Tots, sponsored by the Steelheads Booster Club and the US Marine Corps.
A total of 3,086 stuffed animals rained down onto the CenturyLink Arena ice after Brandon Magee's power play goal 39 seconds into the second period against the Florida Everblades. Those toys were collected by the US Marine Corps and donated to their Toys for Tots campaign. In addition, the Steelheads Booster Club brought in $4,317 in cash donations to the charity.
It's the largest donation, both in toys and in dollars, that the event has ever produced for the Steelheads.
"The Teddy Bear Toss for Tots is a wonderful event that our fans really enjoy, and we're thrilled by their incredible support this year" said Steelheads President Eric Trapp. "We are proud to partner with the US Marines to make sure all children in Boise can receive something special during this Christmas season. And we're also very proud of the efforts of the Steelheads Booster Club that once again made this event so successful."
The Steelheads also welcomed Captain Arthur Jackson, a World War II Marine Corps veteran and recipient of the Medal of Honor, to drop the ceremonial first puck before the game.
The Steelheads play their next four games away from home, beginning with Wednesday night's contest against the Allen Americans at 6:05pm MT. The game can be heard on 1350AM KTIK and viewed on ECHLTV.
The Steelheads return home to CenturyLink Arena on December 16th, when they will host the Utah Grizzlies. For single-game tickets, as well as information on prorated season ticket plans, contact the Idaho Steelheads at 208-383-0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com.
