The South Carolina Stingrays received a strong goaltending performance from Mark Dekanich and two assists from Wade Epp on the way to a 3-1 win over the Indy Fuel Sunday afternoon at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Dekanich turned aside 24-of-25 Fuel shots and kept the game even after two period of play, allowing Paul Rodrigues to notch the game-winning goal at 8:28 of the third period. Rodriguez scored on a wrist shot through traffic, beating Fuel netminder Shane Owen (20 saves) on the glove side.
Trailing 1-0 after the first period, Indy (9-10-2-0) evened the score thanks to Garett Bembridge's power play goal at 7:40 of the middle frame. He one-timed an Alex Lavoie pass beyond the blocker of Dekanich from the left circle for his team-leading ninth goal of the season.
The Stingrays (13-8-1-1) added an empty-net goal at 19:18 to seal the victory.
