Ads Have a Pair of Games at BC this Week

OVERALL...The Admirals enter this week's action with a 34-13-3-3 record and 74 points, which puts them in first place in the West Division. The Ads lead second place Rockford by 12 points, top Houston by 13, are up 15 on Chicago, and outpace Iowa by 17 points. The Admirals are in the midst of a five-game homestand that will conclude this Thursday night against Rockford. The Ads will play three games in three nights this week for the fifth time this season. Following Thursday's tilt with the IceHogs, the Admirals head to Chicago on Friday night before returning to the Bradley Center on Saturday for a 7:30 pm contest with the Manitoba Moose.

VS. ROCKFORD...The Admirals and IceHogs do battle on Thursday night for the eighth time this season and fifth and final match-up at the Bradley Center. So far this year the Ads are 4-1-0-1 against the Hogs, including a 4-1 win the last time the two teams met on February 6th at the BC. The IceHogs won the first match-up this season with a 4-3 shoot-out win on October 18th in Milwaukee, then the Admirals posted a 2-1 shoot-out win in Rockford on November 12th before the Hogs took a 5-2 win at the BC on November 15th. The Ads won 4-2 on December 12th in Milwaukee and took a 4-2 win in Rockford on January 24th. The two squads will square-off ten times this season, with five contests at each team's building.

VS. CHICAGO...The Admirals travel to Chicago on Friday night, the sixth game of the season between the two clubs and third at the All-State Arena. The Wolves won the last two contests between the teams: a 3-2 shoot-out win last Friday in Milwaukee and a 2-1 victory at the All-State Arena on February 7th. In the first game this year between the two rivals, the Wolves took a 5-3 decision on October 25th at the Bradley Center, before the Admirals got revenge with a 5-3 win at the All-State Arena on December 27th and a 5-4 win on January 31st in Milwaukee. This is the 15th season that the two rivals will do battle and the Admirals have compiled a 77-51-1-18 record in 147 lifetime meetings. Out of those 147 contests, 108 of them have been decided by one or two goals.

VS. MANITOBA... The Admirals and Moose do battle on Saturday night for the third time this season and the first at the Bradley Center. The two squads split their first two games this season with the Ads winning 2-1 on January 13th at the MTS Centre and the Moose taking a 4-0 win the following night. Last season Milwaukee was just 1-3 against Manitoba and were swept by the Moose in Milwaukee. All-time versus Manitoba the Admirals have posted a 35-26-1-1 record, including a 18-13-0-1 mark in Winnipeg. The Moose return to the Bradley Center on Tuesday, February 24th for the final match-up this season with the Ads.

THAT SCORE AGAIN...The Admirals OT loss to Quad City yesterday marked the 12th time this season that the final score of an Ads game has been 2-1. Milwaukee has posted an impressive 8-1-3 record in those games with their only regulation defeat at the hands of the Wolves on February 7th. In addition, it was just the fourth time all season that the Admirals have lost a game in which they had held their opponent to two or fewer goals.

WELCOME BACK...The Predators have reassigned forward Patric Hornqvist to the Admirals. Hornqvist has seven points (2g-5a) in 20 games with the Predators this season, with all of his points amassed during his first stint with the club from Oct. 10-Nov. 20. The Sollentuna, Sweeden native has posted nine goals and 14 assists in 34 games with the Admirals.

WORKING OVERTIME...Both of the Admirals games this weekend went into overtime, marking the first games to go past regulation since an overtime loss to San Antonio on January 8th. So far this season the Admirals have played 12 games that needed extra time to decide a victor and they have notched a 6-6 record in those contests including a 3-3 mark in overtime games and a 3-3 mark in shoot-outs. Milwaukee has now lost five consecutive overtime/shoot-out affairs, after winning six straight early this season.

ADMIRAL VS. ADMIRAL...Two of the best goaltenders in Admirals history faced-off Thursday night in Nashville as Pekka Rinne out-dueled Chris Mason in a 4-3 shoot-out win for the Predators over the St. Louis Blues. Rinne, who is third on the Admirals all-time win list with 81 victories, turned aside 24 shots in regulation and overtime and then foiled all three St. Louis attempts in the shoot-out. Mason, who ranks fourth all-time with 70 Admiral wins, made 31 saves on the night.

MACK THE KNIFE...With a pair of goals last Tuesday night Admirals forward Ryan Maki continued an offensive outburst that has seen him post six points (4g-2a) in his last eight contests, which are more points (5) that he totaled all last season. The multi-goal game was the first of his professional career, and it comes on the heels of his first-ever multi-point game on January 31st against Chicago when he notched a goal and an assist. The Medford, NJ native has now totaled ten points (6g-4a) and 27 penalty minutes in 36 games this season.

HOME, SWEET HOME...The Admirals are four games into their current season long five-game homestand that will conclude this Thursday night's game with Rockford. Following a game in Chicago this Friday, the Ads return back to the BC for six of their next seven contests. Normally accustomed to nights away from home, the Admirals have just one night in a hotel (February 27th) until March 7th. So far this season the Ads have posted an 18-4-1-3 record which is the best home winning percentage (.762) in the Western Conference.

THREE DOLLAR DAYS...The Admirals annual charity game will be played on Sunday, March 1st when they take on the Houston Aeros at 4:00 pm. Tickets in the 400-level are just $3 and $2 from each ticket sold, both in the 200- and 400-levels will be donated to the MACC Fund, which raises awareness of childhood cancer and blood disorders. This is the fourth consecutive season that the Admirals have held the game.

OVER THE AIR AND ON THE WEB...For the second consecutive season Sportsradio 1250 WSSP will serve as the Admirals flagship station with Aaron Sims calling all of the hard-hitting end-to-end action. In addition, the team has a one-hour hockey magazine dubbed "Milwaukee Admirals Center Ice" that airs every Monday from 6-7 pm on WSSP.
