February 16, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hershey Bears News Release

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club hopes to snap a season-high four-game losing streak Monday night, with a game in Syracuse against the Crunch. The BEARS then continue a New York swing, heading to Rochester Friday night for a game at Blue Cross Arena against the Americans. Face-off in western New York Friday night is at 7:35 p.m.

The Philadelphia Phantoms come to town Saturday night at 7:00 p.m., the only home game of the upcoming week for the Chocolate and White. Tickets for all BEARS home games are on sale now at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 534-3911.

Just two more after Saturday: The BEARS welcome the Philadelphia Phantoms to town Saturday night for a 7:00 p.m. start. Once Saturday's game is played, the Turnpike rivals have just two scheduled meetings left against one another. HERSHEY will head to Philadelphia for the final regular season game at the Spectrum on April 10, and the Phantoms then play at GIANT Center on April 11. The game on April 11 is Philadelphia's final regular season game in 2008-09. The Phantoms are in the midst of its final season in Philadelphia.

Back in central New York: The BEARS travel Monday to Syracuse to take on the Crunch at the Onondaga County War Memorial at 7:00 p.m. HERSHEY will play its first game in Syracuse Monday since October 14, 2006, when the BEARS defeated the Crunch 6-3 under current Washington Capitals head coach Bruce Boudreau. Syracuse played in HERSHEY earlier this season on October 18, with the Chocolate and White winning 7-1.

Four on the floor: HERSHEY dropped its fourth straight game Saturday night, losing to the Norfolk Admirals 5-4. The loss marked the first time in 2008-09 that the BEARS had dropped four straight games.

Mayotte makes his debut: Goaltender Kris Mayotte became the fifth different goaltender to appear in a game for HERSHEY this season on Saturday night. Mayotte allowed five goals on 29 shots Saturday after being signed to a professional tryout contract last week. He played earlier this season with the Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL).

Washington update: Former BEARS defenseman Mike Green set a National Hockey League record Saturday night, becoming the first NHL defenseman to score a goal in eight consecutive games. Goaltender Michal Neuvirth won his first NHL game the same night in a 5-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
