Admirals Fall in a Goaltending Duel at Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Norfolk Admirals (7-3-0-1) were unable to get any of their 34 shots past rookie goaltender Keith Kinkaid as they fell to the Albany Devils (6-6-0-0), 1-0, on Friday night at the Times Union Center. The Admirals fell to 3-2-0-0 on their seven-game road trip with game six to come tomorrow night against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Admirals goaltender Dustin Tokarski (3-3-0) carried a shutout into the early part of the third period but took the loss after stopping 20 of 21 shots.

Neither team was able to score through the first two periods, as Tokarski made 14 saves while Kinkaid turned aside 20 shots.

The scoreless deadlock was broken 5:20 into the final frame. Defenseman Matt Taormina sent a shot from the left faceoff circle through traffic that eluded a screened Tokarski.

Norfolk sent 14 shots on Kinkaid in the third period - including several good chances in the final minute of regulation with Tokarski pulled in favor of the extra attacker. However, the visitors were unable to find the equalizer.

Dustin Tokarski (3-3-0) turned aside 20 of 21 shots and was saddled with the loss. Keith Kinkaid (3-2-0) stopped all 34 shots he faced for his first professional shutout.

Norfolk did not have a power play. Albany was 0-1 with the man advantage.
