Amerks Players Growing Mustaches to Raise Awareness for Men's Health

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans have partnered with Urology Associates of Rochester to participate in "Movember," as several members of the team are growing mustaches to raise awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men, during the month of November.

Among the Amerks players participating in Movember this month are goaltenders David Leggio and Drew MacIntyre; forwards Colin Stuart, Travis Turnbull, Derek Whitmore, Jonathan Parker, Maxime Legault, Paul Szczechura and Riley Boychuk; defensemen TJ Brennan, Brayden McNabb and Matt MacKenzie, along with strength and conditioning coach Jason Kilijanksi and equipment manager Ben Laing.

Throughout the month, the Amerks will take photos of the players' progress that will be posted on the team's Facebook page. To help the cause, fans can donate funds on behalf of their favorite player during the Amerks' home games on Nov. 12, Nov. 18 and Nov. 26. A picture of each player will be on display at the Amerks Community Table located on the main concourse of The Blue Cross Arena during those games, and fans will be able to place donations in the jar associated with their favorite player. All proceeds will be donated to Urology Associates of Rochester's "Dash for Dads" race to benefit the Lipson Cancer Center at Rochester General Hospital.
