Aeros Double up Bulldogs on the Road

HAMILTON, ON --- Jon DiSalvatore, Justin Fontaine and Warren Peters each scored as the Houston Aeros beat the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-2 Friday night at Copps Coliseum in a rematch of the 2011 Western Conference Finals.

The win was the fifth in six games for the Aeros, extending the team's point streak to eight games (6-0-0-2) and allowed Houston to maintain the top spot in the American Hockey League with 19 points.

The Aeros tied the score at 1-1 on DiSalvatore's 5-on-3 power play goal at 5:37 in the second period, and Justin Fontaine gave the Aeros a 2-1 lead at 12:11 in the second period.

Warren Peters upped Houston's lead to 3-1 at 16:27 in the third period with another power play goal, but Hamilton answered with a Garrett Stafford power play goal at 18:51 to cut the lead to one. Jarod Palmer put the game away with an empty net goal at 19:47 in the third.

Brian Willsie opened the scoring with a goal at 1:43 in the second.

Matt Hackett made 26 saves in goal for the Aeros, who return to Toyota Center next Sunday against Toronto at 5:05 p.m.

BOMB DROPPINGS Jeff Taffe (0-2=2) registered his sixth two-point game of the season ... The two-point night for Taffe was his fourth in five games... DiSalvatore has points in eight-straight games (3-8=11)... Newly signed defenseman Elgin Reid registered his first assist as an Aero, and Drew Bagnall had his first assist this season. ... Matt Hackett improved to 5-0-1 in road decisions this season.
