Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI - Mike Santorelli recorded two goals while Drew MacIntyre cast aside all 27 shots to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 4-0 win over the Iowa Chops Friday night at the Bradley Center.

"We moved the puck really well, and we did some great things with our instincts," said Admirals Head Coach Lane Lambert. "We found holes and got into shooting areas, and also had great power-plays again."

After a tense meeting between the same two teams Thursday night, it didn't take long for tensions to boil over. Just 11 seconds in, Milwaukee's Scott Ford and Iowa's Ryan Donally dropped their gloves at center ice. Both were called for fighting penalties.

The Admirals were just as quick to jump-start their offense. Iowa's Chad Painchaud was called for tripping, setting up a Milwaukee power play. After working the puck around the zone, Alexander Sulzer blasted a one-timer from Cody Franson at the point. The puck hit netminder Jean-Philippe Levasseur and fluttered in the air for a moment before Mike Santorelli batted it in for his 17th of the year.

At 7:15 the Admirals took advantage of the second power-play of the game when Patric Hornqvist sniped a wrist shot over the blocker of Levasseur with assists from Cody Franson and Cal O'Reilly. Hornqvist has now scored a goal in six straight games for the Admirals.

After a scoreless period, Santorelli extended the Admirals lead by scoring his second of the night at 6:41 of the third period. Defenseman Robert Dietrich gave Santorelli a head-man pass and he skated into the offensive zone and fired a hard wrister over the blocker side shoulder of Levasseur.

At 10:03 the Admirals Andreas Thuresson secured the lead to make it 4-0 with a snapper inside the hash marks after receiving a perfect wrap around pass from Ryan Maki. It was Thuresson's 11th of the season, and Maki's 7th assist, giving him 14 points after scoring last night.

MacIntyre recorded his 4th shutout of the year, stopping all of Iowa's 27 shots.

"When I play my best, I'm in great position, and I've been working on that as my career's gone on. I've got some great defenseman though, and they've got long sticks, and they take care of the rebounds for me pretty good," added MacIntyre.

Santorelli's two goals paced the Admirals offense while, Franson and Sulzer chipped in with a pair of assists on the night, as Milwaukee has now scored ten goals in their last two games after mustering just 16 in their previous nine.

The Admirals begin a five-game road trip on Sunday afternoon at Quad City at 5:05 against the Flames. The team doesn't return home until Friday, March 20th at 7:00 pm against the Lake Erie Monsters.
