WORCESTER, MASS - Matt Fornataro scored twice and added an assist to lead the Worcester Sharks to a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Phantoms at the DCU Center. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Phantoms and was Worcester's first victory over Philadelphia in four tries since its inception as the Sharks in 2006.

The Phantoms jumped out to a 1-0 lead 9:20 into the first period. Boyd Kane took a drop pass from Nate Raduns and fired a missile over the shoulder of Taylor Dakers for his 13th of the year.

But it was all Worcester from that point. The Sharks evened the affair with 4:30 left in the period, just seven seconds into their first power play opportunity. Off the face-off that started the man-advantage, Tom Cavanagh fired a shot that was blocked in front, but came right to Fornataro. He was able to fire it past Scott Munroe, making it a 1-1 game at the first intermission.

The Sharks then jumped ahead with two second period goals. The first came 7:10 into the frame when Fornataro fired a pass across the goalmouth and found Cavanagh on the left post, who tipped it past Munroe for a 2-1 lead. Then with just 21.9 seconds left in the period, Ryan Vesce was on the left boards and fired a pass across to Fornataro, who tipped it home for the 3-1 second intermission advantage.

At 12:20 of the third period, Worcester expanded the lead to 4-1. Demers took a shot from the right point that hit traffic in front and ended up to the left of Munroe, where Riley Armstrong was available to put it home and close out the scoring.

Munroe took the loss with 31 saves on 35 Worcester shots, while Dakers earned the win with 24 stops on 25 Phantom bids.

The Phantoms continue their weekend road trip tomorrow night when they visit the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in a 7:00 start. They'll return to the Wachovia Spectrum on Wednesday, March 11 against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

There are just 10 regular season games remaining at the Wachovia Spectrum. Adult tickets are just $10 and kids tickets just $5 for the remainder of the 2008-09 season. Tickets are going fast for the final game on Friday, April 10 against the Hershey Bears. Tickets are available through ComcastTIX at 1-800-298-4200, at the Wachovia Complex box office or online at Phantomshockey.com.
