PEORIA, Ill. (March 6, 2009) - A new tradition was started on Monday when the Peoria Rivemen players transformed into the wait staff for fans and raised $5,478.43 for the Children's Hospital of Illinois. The event took place at Gracie's Chicago Style Grill in Washington, Ill.

The total donation was generated from the cost of food and drink, along with tips and funds from both silent and live auctions. A check presentation to the Children's Hospital of Illinois will take place in an on-ice ceremony on Friday, March 27.

"This was a terrific event in every possible way," said Rivermen COO Josh Morin. "A great time was had by not only the fans but by the players as well and we are so proud of all the money that this event generated for the Children's Hospital."

Each year, Children's Hospital of Illinois has over 5,000 admissions; 2,000 newborn deliveries, and 16,000 emergency department visits. It is the third largest pediatric hospital in Illinois and the only full service tertiary hospital for children in central Illinois. More information is available at www.childrenshospitalofill.org.
