Manchester, NH, March 6, 2009: Defenseman Viatcheslav Voynov's goal at the 38-second mark of overtime gave the Manchester Monarchs a 1-0 victory over the Hartford Wolf Pack Friday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak, second-longest in team history, for the Wolf Pack, and it was the team's first-ever 1-0 overtime loss. It was only the second victory against the Wolf Pack in seven tries for the Monarchs. Jonathan Bernier stopped all 24 shots he faced in the Manchester net to get the shutout.

The Wolf Pack controlled the opening shift of overtime, until Trevor Lewis broke up Mark Bell's pass and sent Brian Boyle away to start a three-on-two. Boyle stopped up on the right-wing boards in the Wolf Pack end and sent the puck across the slot to Voynov, who one-timed a slapshot from just inside the left circle past Hartford goaltender Matt Zaba. The goal came on the only shot credited in the overtime.

The two teams battled through regulation in cautious fashion, with neither club surrendering many good scoring chances. The best opportunity for either side came when the Wolf Pack had 1:34 of five-on-three power play starting at 16:25 of the second period, but the Hartford man-advantage unit could not solve Bernier.

Zaba stopped 31 shots in his ninth consecutive start. He is 7-2-0 in those nine games, with the two losses both being 1-0 decisions.
