Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Toronto Marlies 2-0 on Friday night in front of 5, 349 fans at Copps Coliseum. Hamilton goaltender Cedrick Desjardins turned away 26 shots on net for his third shutout of the season.

Following two scoreless periods, the Bulldogs opened the game's scoring at 4:06 of the final frame. Sergei Kostitsyn sprung Ben Maxwell on a breakaway when he fed Maxwell a pass through the middle of the ice. Maxwell skated in on Toronto starting goaltender Justin Pogge before snapping a shot through the goaltender's five-hole.

Ryan Russell secured the win for the Bulldogs with an empty net marker. Russell received a pass from Kyle Chipchura before firing the puck into the net from the centre ice.

This shutout brings the team's total to 10 this season, only two behind Hamilton's franchise record of 12 during the 2002-2003 season.

The Bulldogs continue their five-game home stand when they welcome the Syracuse Crunch to Copps Coliseum for a 7:00 p.m. game tomorrow.
