Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen are set to play in the franchise's 28th annual ENMAX Teddy Bear Toss on Sunday December 3rd at 4:00 p.m. MT. The Calgary Hitmen are proud to partner with ENMAX for another season. "It's incredible to experience the kindness of our community as thousands of bears land on the ice," said Krista Moroz, Manager, Community Partnerships and External Relations. "At ENMAX, we believe in giving back-and this event shows the amazing impact people can make. Thank you to all our ENMAX volunteers and their families, the Calgary Hitmen and hockey fans for your generosity."
The Hitmen are calling fans and the community to help fulfill the need for bears. "As an organization we make it our goal every year to meet the request for bears which is currently at 29,000. We are calling on the community and hockey fans to come together to help us in our mission." says Amy Bontorin, Manager, Calgary Hitmen Business Operations.
The bears will be donated to over 70 local agencies this holiday season. Fans are asked to bring a new or gently used small or medium sized stuffed toys to toss onto the ice when the Hitmen score their first goal against the Prince Albert Raiders. The bears will then be stored overnight courtesy of the Two Small Men with Big Hearts Moving Company who are providing the Hitmen with two five-ton trucks.
The Hitmen will be back at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Monday, December 4 from 7:30 -10:00 a.m. for Teddy Bear Distribution where organizations will come to collect their bears. The team will then head out to deliver bears in person to various organizations throughout the day. Members of the Hitmen's leadership team will join the Calgary Flames at the Alberta Children's Hospital in the afternoon where they will participate in holiday activities, visit patient rooms, sign autographs, and join youth and families in the arts and crafts room at the hospital. Tickets are still available for this year's Teddy Bear Toss at HitmenHockey.com.
