Wenatchee, Wash. - Two goals from Luca Cagnoni highlighted Portland's night, but a Matthew Savoie hat-trick and a handful of four-point outings helped the Wild top the Winterhawks 8-3 on Friday.

Karter Prosofsky - who posted two goals and two assists - started the scoring 8:02 into the first, sending stuffed animals flying in Town Toyota Center on Wenatchee's Teddy Bear Toss night. But Portland was up for the challenge after the cleaning delay, scoring twice to take a 2-1 lead into intermission. Gabe Klassen grabbed the first, ripping a wrister from the right circle 90 seconds after Prosofsky's opener. Then it was Cagnoni's turn on the power play, unleashing a seeing-eye shot from range that found twine.

Portland's lead was short-lived, though, as Wenatchee rattled off four unanswered goals in the second to take a comfortable lead. Savoie scored twice around another Prosofsky strike, with Evan Friesen wrapping up the frame in the goal column as well. Up 5-2 heading into the third, Savoie completed his hat-trick at 7:07 for a 6-2 lead. Cagnoni brought the Hawks back within two, rifling a one-timer from the right circle on the power play for his second of the night, but Conor Geekie and Ty Fraser tacked on two more before the end of the frame for an 8-3 final.

The Winterhawks and Wild now head south to face off again at the VMC. Puck drop is set for 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, and the Winterhawks are hosting the Fox 12/Les Schwab Toy Drive at the game.
