Kansas City Mavericks News Release
INDEPENDENCE, MO (March 12, 2015)- The Missouri Mavericks announced Thursday afternoon that they have traded for three players from the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL) in exchange for Jack Downing.
The Mavericks acquired left winger Brian Nugent, forward Lee Reimer, and one player for future considerations to be decided at the end of the 2014-15 season.
"Nugent is a proven leader on the ice and in the locker room at this level, and Reimer is a young kid with great college numbers, both will be excellent additions to our lineup," said Richard Matvichuk, Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations. "We are excited about this deal and look forward to getting both of these guys on the ice tomorrow for the fans."
Brian Nugent (Victoria, BC) has spent his past two seasons in a Cyclones sweater, splitting his 2013-14 season with twenty-five games played for the Las Vegas Wranglers. Through his total regular season pro career, the 5'10", 206lb winger has put up 16 goals and 21 assists.
Lee Reimer (Landmark, MAN) is in his first pro season, having played only 8 games for the Cyclones this season. Reimer's four-year college career at Michigan State University (CCHA) totaled 24 goals, 52 assists and 76 penalty minutes through 139 games.
The Missouri Mavericks play their next game at home on Friday, Mar. 13 at Independence Events Center against the Brampton Beast. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm (CST).
