Bulldogs Try To Gain Ground In The North Division With Four Games This Week

The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will look to gain some momentum going into their second week of the season. The 'Dogs will face-off against the Rochester Americans (AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers) on Tuesday, October 19th, at Blue Cross Arena at 7:00 p.m. The 'Dogs will then travel to Winnipeg to battle the Manitoba Moose (AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks) for two consecutive 8:30 p.m. EST contests on Thursday, October 21st, and Friday, October 22nd, before returning to Copps Coliseum to host the Oklahoma City Barons (AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers) live on CBC on Sunday, October 24th at 1:00 p.m.

On Thursday, October 15th, the 'Dogs kick-started their season in Rochester, New York, against North Division rival, the Rochester Americans. The 'Dogs went down 2-0 early in the game but proceeded to score five unanswered goals to defeat the Americans 5-2, with goals scored by five different players, including Kyle Klubertanz, Ben Maxwell, David Desharnais, J.T. Wyman, and Andrew Conboy. The team returned to Copps Coliseum for their first home game of 2010-2011 on Saturday, October 16th where they were defeated 5-3 by the Toronto Marlies. The 'Dogs led the game 3-2 going into the final period, with goals scored by Yannick Weber, and a pair netted by Ben Maxwell but Nazem Kadri, Daryl Boyce and Luca Caputi scored third period goals to win the game for Toronto.

BULLDOGS NOTES:

- The Bulldogs power play is 3 for 10 to begin the season boasting a 30% success rate

- Defenseman Yannick Weber recorded three assists against the Toronto Marlies on Saturday, which is only the second time he has done that in his AHL career. Weber is currently tied for 5th among defencemen in the AHL in points with five (1G, 4A) even though he's played four fewer games than the leader, Nathan Oystrick, who has seven points.

- Goaltender Robert Mayer recorded his first-career AHL win in the 'Dogs season opener against the Rochester Americans on Friday, October 15th. Mayer made 19 saves in the victory.

- Defenseman Kyle Klubertanz netted his first career AHL goal against Rochester in Friday's contest

- Defenseman Brendon Nash and C Gabriel Dumont recorded their first-career AHL points, both assists, in the season opener against the Americans
