Moline, IL- The Quad City Flames today announced that the team will host the 14th Annual Genesis Jersey Auction on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. as the Flames take on the Iowa Chops. Proceeds from this year's event will benefit The Take A Shot 4 The Team campaign, an initiative that provides flu shots to kids in area schools.

During Saturday's game, Flames players will wear jerseys featuring a St. Patrick's Day theme. These one-of-a-kind jerseys will be auctioned off following the game. Also, a selected quantity of jerseys will be raffled off at the Genesis Fan Information Table during Saturday's game. Fans that purchase jerseys will have the opportunity to have their photos taken with the Flames player that wore the jersey.

Over the previous 13 years of jersey auctions, Quad City hockey teams have raised more than $550,000 for local charities. Last year's event, the first featuring the American Hockey League's Flames, raised $32,105. Seven current National Hockey League players has their jerseys auctioned in last year's event including Dustin Boyd, Curtis McElhinney, Eric Nystrom, Adam Pardy, Warren Peters, Brandon Prust, Brett Sutter and David Van der Gulik. An additional six players with NHL experience had jerseys up for auction last season.

"The proceeds from the jersey auction will positively impact the lives of hundreds of young Quad Citians who receive these much-needed flu shots," said Ken Croken, Vice President of Corporate Communications and Marketing, Genesis Health System. "We want to thank the Flames and all the fans who will participate."
