Canucks Recall Sabourin; Re-assign Flaherty to Moose

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced they have recalled goaltender Dany Sabourin from the Moose. As a result, they have re-assigned netminder Wade Flaherty to Manitoba.

Flaherty, 38, did not appear in any games with Vancouver since being recalled Nov. 16/06. The Terrace, B.C. native has appeared in eight games so far this season with Manitoba where he has a 4-3-0 record and a goals against average of 2.61 and a save percentage of .896. In his previous two seasons with the Moose, Flaherty appeared in 81 games with a record of 45-26-7. He is currently the franchise leader among Moose goalies for career goals against average at 2.39. He is also the franchise leader in career save percentage with a .917 mark and holds the franchise record for all-time Moose shutouts with 10. Flaherty is the franchise leader in almost every playoff category, including appearances (23); wins (15); losses (9); overtime wins (4); and saves (576). He has a Moose career playoff goals average of 2.24 and a Moose career playoff save percentage of .917.

Sabourin, 26, appeared in two games this past weekend with the Moose after being re-assigned for conditioning purposes on Nov. 16/06. On Friday, the Val d'Or, PQ native suffering an 4-3 overtime defeat in Rochester before stopping all 27 shots he faced for a 1-0 shutout victory over Syracuse on Saturday. This season with the Canucks, Sabourin has recorded one win against the Edmonton Oilers on Oct. 17/06. He has a goals against average of 3.24 and a save percentage of .868. Last season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, the Val d'Or, PQ native was awarded the "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award as the AHL's top goaltender by recording a record of 30-14-4 in 49 games with a goals against average of 2.26 and a save percentage of .922. In his career, Sabourin has appeared in 135 AHL games with a record of 63-50-12 and a goals against average of 2.45 and a save percentage of .910.
