Griner Named Western Conference Player of the Week

WNBA Phoenix Mercury July 12, 2021 - PHOENIX - 2014 WNBA Champion, two-time Defensive Player of the Year and two-time WNBA scoring leader Brittney Griner was named the Western Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office today. It's the second Player of the Week honor of the season for Griner and the 10th of her career, the second-most by a Mercury player in franchise history (Diana Taurasi, 20). WNBA Phoenix Mercury June 25, 2021 - PHOENIX - The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury today announced that WNBA all-time leading scorer Diana Taurasi has been cleared to return to play and will be available for the team's next game, this Sunday against the Los Angeles Sparks at 3 p.m. at Phoenix Suns Arena. Taurasi suffered a fracture to her sternum in the Mercury's game at Connecticut on May 16 causing her to miss the last nine games. WNBA Phoenix Mercury June 21, 2021 - PHOENIX - The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury's today announced that it has proactively moved its first home game in the month of July, originally scheduled for Friday, July 2 against Minnesota, to Saturday, July 3. The game will remain a 7 p.m. PT tip-off at Phoenix Suns Arena. The schedule change comes in order to avoid a potential conflict with Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, which is scheduled for July 2 in the event the game is needed.
