Las Vegas - Taking part in the battle to end childhood cancers, the Las Vegas Wranglers collected a total of $20,096 to donate to the St. Baldrick's Foundation this season.
Nine Wranglers players, Head Coach Ryan Mougenel and front office staff participated in the six-week fundraising effort, taking the ice after the matinee game on Sunday, March 3, to shave their heads in solidarity with children battling cancers. Wranglers forward Scott Pitt joined the effort the day of after fans raised $1,000 for him during the game, but Mougenel led his team with $1,080 in donations.
Fans that joined the Wranglers' St. Baldrick's team primarily had their heads shaved during the intermissions, with top fundraisers joining the Wranglers on the ice for their haircuts. The fan leaders each raised more than $1,250 on their own.
Last season, in conjunction with a specialty St. Baldrick's jersey that was auctioned on the concourse, the Wranglers raised $32,577 for the organization. This year was the team's seventh season partnering with St. Baldrick's.
The Wranglers continue a seven-game road stretch with two games against the Stockton Thunder starting Friday, March 8. The team returns home on Tuesday, March 19, for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Bakersfield Condors.
