Bulls Held off by Alaska, 2-1

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Yanni Gourde scored in his home-debut to tie the game in the second period, but the San Francisco Bulls (21-32-1-6) were defeated by the Alaska Aces (44-12-2-4), 2-1, in a hard-fought battle, Wednesday night at the Cow Palace. Thomas Heemskerk played well in the net for the Bulls making 43 saves.

Alex Hudson opened the scoring for the Aces on a shot that was too quick for Heemskerk's glove. Zach Harrison and Jordan Kremyr assisted on Hudson's 10th goal of the season with 2:32 remaining in the first period. San Francisco was out-shot 22-10 in the opening period.

Gourde got the game back to even with his second goal in a Bulls uniform with 5:05 remaining in the second period. Gourde didn't give up on the play in front of the net, and was able to push the puck past Mark Guggenberger. Bryan Cameron and Tristan King assisted on the goal.

Alaska found the go-ahead goal at 9:14 of the third period. Chris Clackson followed up a shot from Nick Mazzolini, and put it past Heemskerk for his 14th goal of the season. Spencer Bennett also assisted on the goal.

The Bulls and Aces face off two more times this weekend. The Bulls host Eco-Friendly weekend on March 8 and 9. On Friday, March 8, the first 1,000 fans, 13 and over, receive a reusable grocery bag. The following night on Saturday, the first 500 fans, 13 and over, receive an SF Bulls travel cup. Both games begin at 7:15 pm, doors open at 6 pm.
