Wranglers head into All-Star break with first place intact

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers ® posted a 1-1-0 record last week starting with a 3-1 loss at home to Victoria on Tuesday night. Las Vegas beat Long Beach 3-2 at the Orleans Arena on Friday night.

The ECHL hosts the 2007 Rbk Hockey ECHL All-Star Game this Wednesday in Boise, ID at Qwest Arena. The skills competition will take place on Tuesday, January 16th at 6:05 pm (PST).

Las Vegas will return to the ice this Friday and Saturday in Utah at the E-Center. Both games start at 6:05 pm (PST). Las Vegas returns to home ice on Friday, January 26th at 7:05 pm to host the Idaho Steelheads. The first 2,000 fans will receive a Wranglers sports bottle sponsored by Brian Perkes Realtor, the exclusive and official realtor of the Las Vegas Wranglers.

Victoria 3 at Las Vegas 1

The Las Vegas Wranglers were defeated by the Victoria Salmon Kings 3-1 on Tuesday night in front of 3,836 fans at the Orleans Arena. Victoria's Seamus Young scored the game-winner at 8:14 of the second period to break a 1-1 tie. Winger Joe Tallari scored the only goal for Las Vegas in the loss. Victoria goalie Bryan Bridges made 17 saves on 18 shots for his third win of the season. Las Vegas goalie Kevin Nastiuk stopped 27 of 30 Victoria shots. Victoria improved to 3-1-0 at the Orleans Arena this season.

Long Beach 2 at Las Vegas 3

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers beat the Long Beach Ice Dogs 3-2 in front of 6,218 fans at the Orleans Arena on Friday night. Wranglers' forwards Chris Neiszner, Joe Tallari and Kelly Czuy each scored a goal in the win. Forwards Bo Cheeseman and Ash Goldie each scored goals for Long Beach. Goalie Marc Magliarditi made 33 saves for the Las Vegas win.

All-Star Scoop.....

The Idaho Steelheads will host the Rbk Hockey ECHL All-Star Game at Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho on Wednesday, January 17th at 6:05 pm (PST). Wranglers General Manager / Head Coach Glen Gultzan will coach the National Conference All-Star Team for the second straight year. Las Vegas goalie Mike McKenna and center Tyler Mosienko have been selected to start for the National Conference. Defenseman Jason Krischuk will be making his first appearance in an all-star game.

The game will be broadcast live on NHL Center Ice package on DirecTV, Dish network and on-demand cable. The game can also be seen nationally via web stream on B2 Networks. Fans may also log onto www.echl.com for a live video stream of the game or tune into XM radio channel 208 for live play-by-play.

The skills competition will take place on Tuesday, January 16th at 6:05 pm (PST). Fans will be able to get skills competition results on the league website, www.echl.com.

Shuffling the Deck.....

The Las Vegas Wranglers announced last Wednesday that center Aki Seitsonen and left wing Ryan Donally have been recalled to the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights of the American Hockey League. Seitsonen and Donally join goalie Mike McKenna in Omaha. The Wranglers announced last Tuesday that the Omaha had recalled goalie Mike McKenna and returned defenseman Jason Jozsa. Defenseman Scott Schoneck and winger Shawn Limpright each remain on the injured reserve, but could return after the all-star break. Defenseman Jaako Harikaala made his season debut on Friday night after missing the first 33 games of the season with an injury.

Wranglers Bits.....

Wranglers forward Joe Tallari has scored in two straight games, while picking up a point in four of his last five straight games. Winger Marco Peluso has missed four of the last five games with an injury. Center Derek Edwardson needs seven more assists to reach 100 for his career. Chris Neiszner will play his 100th game as a Wrangler on Friday night in Utah. Coach Glen Gulutzan needs four wins to reach 150 with Las Vegas.

Upcoming Opponents.....

Utah Grizzlies - (12-22-3, 27 points, 5th Place, West) -

The Wranglers and Grizzlies meet for the final time in Utah this season. Las Vegas is 3-1-1 against Utah this season and 6-3-3 all-time. Forward Ryan Kinasewich leads the Grizzlies in scoring with 23 goals and 19 assists for 42 points on the season. Goalie Rob McVicar has played the majority of the team's games, posting a 10-14-3 record. McVicar has a 3.34 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. Utah rides a three-game winning streak into the All-Star break. The Grizzlies are 5-5-0 in their last ten games played. Utah is 5-5-1 at home this season. Utah has been shorthanded 318 times this season, the second highest total in the ECHL. The Grizzlies' penalty kill ranks 21st in the ECHL.
