CHARLOTTE, NC - After a tough loss in a shootout on Tuesday to Florida, the Checkers bounced back to win three in a row. The Checkers picked up back-to-back wins over Columbia and Pensacola on Thursday and Friday, respectively, and then went on the road to get another win over Columbia on Saturday. Following the All-Star break, the Checkers will get back to the ice as they host South Carolina on Saturday. The Checkers have a big night planned as they will host Race Night. Several drivers will be on hand as well as several show cars on display. The Checkers will cap off the week traveling to Reading on Saturday.

Tuesday, January 9, 2007 @ Florida, L-SO, 3-4 For a second straight game the Checkers couldn't hold a lead against the Florida Everblades. Leading 3-1 after two periods, the Checkers (17-14-3 for 37 points) yielded two goals to Florida in the final period and then lost in a shootout 4-3 Tuesday night at Germain Arena in Fort Myers, Florida.

Thursday, January 11, 2007 vs. Columbia, W, 5-2 CHARLOTTE, N.C.-The Charlotte Checkers defeated the Columbia Inferno 5-2 Thursday night at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. Defenseman, Adam Nightingale, led the Checkers in scoring with one goal and one assist for the evening.

Friday, January 12, 2007 vs. Pensacola, W, 3-2 The Charlotte Checkers defeated the Pensacola Ice Pilots at home 3-2 Friday night in front of 6,927 fans at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. The Checkers win against the Ice Pilots was the fourth-straight win at home. Lee Falardeau was credited with the Checkers last goal to win the game with a score of 3-2.

Saturday, January 6, 2007 @ Florida, L, 4-3 The Checkers latest win was a 4-2 triumph over the Columbia Inferno Saturday night in South Carolina. Charlotte's Mike Ouellette scored twice and added an assist, and goalie Alex Westlund made 27 saves to earn his ninth win of the season in leading the Checkers (20-14-3 for 43 points) to victory. Blake Bellefeuille and Hugh Jessiman also scored single goals for Charlotte.

The Inferno got goals from Steve McJannet and Jeff Miles, as the Checkers beat Columbia for the second time this week and lead the nine-game season series 3-0-0. Inferno goalie Robert Gherson suffered the loss with 23 saves.
